Christian let me ask a few quick questions… What if the Bible was inspired by God? Would that change the way you look at scripture? Would you hold it in a higher regard? Would you want to try to live by its instructions?
Well it’s not a “WHAT IF” Not just because of 2 Tim 3:16, it has stood the test through history and proven to be inspired time and time again. The Bible is unlike any other book in the world. As a Christian we need to educate ourselves as to what the scriptures teach us. The Bible is the foundation of our faith and what we base our teaching on. We are not much of a Christian if we don’t do the best we can at following what Jesus taught. The following verses are JUST about DRUNKENNESS. By definition in the scriptures the word means intoxicated.
Greek: μέθη méthē, meth'-ay; apparently a primary word; an intoxicant, i.e. (by implication) intoxication:—drunkenness.
What you do after reading is between you and the Lord. If you’re not a Christian let me ask, why not? So lets open the bible and see what it has to say….
WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT GETTING DRUNK?
Ephesians 5:18 - And BE NOT DRUNK with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Galatians 5:21 - Envyings, murders, DRUNKENNESS, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Proverbs 20:1 - Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
1 Corinthians 6:10 - Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor DRUNKARDS, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Proverbs 23:29-35 - Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that TARRY LONG AT THE WINE; THEY THAT GO TO SEEK MIXED WINE. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it gives his color in the cup, when it moves itself aright. At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder. Your eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. Yea, thou shall be as he that lies down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lies upon the top of a mast. They have stricken me, shall thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
Isaiah 5:11 - Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, [that] they may follow STRONG DRINK; that continue until night, [till] wine inflame them!
Proverbs 23:20-21 - BE NOT AMONG WINEBIBBERS; among riotous eaters of flesh:
1 Corinthians 5:11 - But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a DRUNKARD, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
1 Timothy 3:8 - Likewise [must] the deacons [be] grave, not doubletongued, NOT GIVEN TO MUCH WINE, not greedy of filthy lucre;
Titus 2:3 - The aged women likewise, that [they be] in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, NOT GIVEN TO MUCH WINE, teachers of good things;
1 Peter 5:8 - BE SOBER, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
There you have it. 11 scriptures that speak about getting drunk.
