Pastor Lewis Cushman.
There used to be a time that some people said don't go to that church of God over there, they are Pentecostals. There is a bunch of hootin and hollering going on... But then the presence of God fell, people were delivered, saved, and healed and the church was filled. People became born again and there was a revival that changed the community. Today we need a Pentecostal revival, a personal revival between you and God. Something that will change your life and how you live for God.
“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:1-4 KJV
FOUR THINGS WE NEED FOR A POWERFUL REVIVAL.
A REVIVAL OF PASSION:
Q: Why is it that there are so many things that are not mentioned behind the pulpit in America today? Pastors are more worried about if they are offending people then preaching then word.
Q: Why is it that people want entertainment over hearing the Word of God.
DO: We need to come into the house of God and worship God.
DO: We need to hear and apply the Word of God to our life.
If we come to church and there is no worship or Word then there is a problem with the church.
If people do not hear and see Jesus in us, then the passion of God is lacking in our life.
The baptism of the Holy Ghost is there to give you power.
There is more to it then just coming to church on Sunday morning and sitting in a pew.
On the day of pentecost they could hear them in the streets.
If there is a passion for God, then the church will grow.
A passionless church is a church that has left its first love.
A REVIVAL OF COMPASSION:
True passion will create compassion and a desire to minister to the needs of others.
There is no passion without compassion. Love people and let God change their life.
Pentecost is not about receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost and then just sitting in your pew. It is a game changer for the Christian life. The fire of the Holy Spirit will change a person from the inside, the they will change on the outside. It makes you want to do things for God.
Q: Are you reaching the lost?
Q: Do you know anyone who needs Jesus?
Q: How much time do you spend praying for your church?
Pure prayer power will prevail. God answers prayer.
Q: What is lacking in most churches today? PRAYER.
If the church will not pray, there will be no power.
If there is no power, then there will be no change.
“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.” 2 Timothy 1:6 KJV
It is time to stir up the gift of God.
A REVIVAL OF POWER:
When they came down from the upper room they turned the word right side up.
The disciples reached outside of the 4 walls of the church and God touched people.
If there is no power, then there is no spirit.
“God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God. Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.”
Psalms 62:11-12 KJV
It is the power of God that will bring deliverance in change in a church or a persons life.
A REVIVAL OF PRESENCE :
The early believers lived in the presence of God. People knew they were Christians.
There were led by the spirit. They had the power of God moving through them. They brought the church to the world.
“One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.”
Psalms 27:4 KJV
If you are living this life with out victory over sin and you seem to fail at every turn, then you need the fullness of God's spirit in your life. Take some time to pray and ask God to fill you till it overflows from the inside to the outside. Why settle for a few sprinkles of God presence when you can be filled with the power to overcome the problems of this life.
