THE GREAT SHEPHERD: PART TWO
First thought, God never changes.
Second thought, God is no respecter of persons.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restores my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Psalms 23:1-6
BY THE STILL WATERS:
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
God will bring you to a place of rest, a place beside the still waters. For sheep this is a place with food and water, a safe place where they can rest. Sometimes sheep may want to wander and they would have to be made to lay down. If we don't rest and are always on the go, ever doing, then we will burn out. There is a reason that God said to take a day of rest. Some would take this to the ultimate extreme and make it more work trying to do nothing and thus miss the point. REST... that's what God had in mind. We need to rest so that we can be ready for Monday.
He restores my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Restoration: The action of returning something to a former owner, place, or condition.
If your soul is old and rusty, God can still restore it. He can make you new and fresh.
God is in the restoration business.
TAKE A QUICK SPIRITUAL EVALUATION:
Q: Is God restoring your soul?
Q: Is God leading you?
Q: Has God made you to lie down besides still waters?
Q: Is God leading to live right?
Q: Are you following in the first place?
Q: Are you missing a fruit of the Spirit?
Q: Do you enjoy being a Christian?
Q: Do people see the joy of the Lord in your life?
“Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”
Psalms 51:12 KJV
When we go through the bad things in this life we don't have to like it, but we need to know,
God will NEVER fail. He will see you through.
When God brings you to a place of rest, you need to take it. It is during the times by the still waters that you will be restored. After your are rested and restored, then you are ready to go down the path of righteousness. If you are not rested, restored, and ready to follow you might not make it through the what's next without a whole lot of sorrow. Stay focused on the Lord, there is a valley ahead.
THROUGH THE VALLEY:
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
When things are going wrong in your life there is a God that will give you the strength to make it through. You might be going through a storm in your life, we all have storms that we go through, but God can put a song in your heart in the midst of the storm. Sometimes when the storms come, we stop trusting God to see us through. We look at the storm and take our eyes off Jesus. Sometimes we lose the joy of the Lord. Sometimes we backslide. Sometimes we slide back. Remember Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you. Look to him. He will ALWAYS put His arms around you and keep you by His side.
INSPIRERED BY JOHN'S SONG INTRO...
When you are not thinking about the Lord, you might start thinking about this world.
When you think on what's going on in the world, it will make your blood boil.
When your blood boils, you lose your temper.
When you lose your temper, you can't think straight.
When you can't think straight, you can't even speak right.
When you can't speak right, You get MANGERY.
Don't get MANGERY. Think about the Lord.
